Pricing Policy
- In order to ensure that the charges of our services are reasonable, we have formulated our pricing policy by combining the twin principles of ‘No Profit No Loss’ , ‘Cross-subsidization’ and cost minimization by utilizing a unique concept of ‘Time Donation’ in place of ‘Financial Donations’ by socially conscious individuals having some spare time.
- The principle of ‘No Profit No Loss’ entails earning a very nominal pre-tax profit of only 10% just to account for possible business loss which might occur to ‘Prayas’ due to errors of judgment which may be committed during the course of the management of its activities or bad debt so that the possibility of any net loss is totally avoided. This is considered essential to ensure sustainability of our activities which are socially desirable. In other words, we do cover all our expenses including direct, indirect or overhead costs but do not look for commercial post tax profit in tune with current financial market scenario.
- The principle of cross-subsidization has been adopted by us considering the reality of acute economic disparity prevalent in India. In the year 2016, the per capita income of India on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) was only 5350 US Dollars per year and India was ranked 106th by World Bank. The richest 1% Indians owned 58.4% of the national wealth. The richest 10% of Indians owned 80.7% of the wealth. Bottom 10% of Indians owned just 0.2% of national wealth. Bottom 80% owned only 5.7% of the national wealth. Since then this trend has been going upward every year i.e. riches are getting richer at much faster rate than the poor. Therefore the economic disparity in India is increasing day by day.
- The personality deficiencies, which are primarily responsible for bulk of our problems, are spreading very fast across the board in rich and poor. Therefore poor segment of society needs personality profiling and development services more than the rich as it has to overcome the day to day hardships being encountered by it. However poor may not be in a position to pay the commercial charges of personality profiling, counseling and development services. Hence there is a need for cross-subsidization in pricing in the present context. Richer customers should subsidize the poor customers. In other words our customer should pay to us for the services availed by them according to their capacity to pay but should get service according to their needs. As such we keep some seats reserved for candidates from economically weaker sections of the society.. However we wish to clarify that we do not provide our service free of cost to anybody as the value of a free service is not appreciated by the beneficiary and as such we provide our services at a discount which is determined from case to case basis considering the paying capacity of a particular individual or institutional customer.
- At present we have determined following prices for various services which can be changed or modified by ‘Prayas’ from time to time.
